Floorbooks- Assessment ‘as learning’ and evaluation of practices through critical reflection
‘Assessment ‘as learning’ is used to facilitate children’s awareness, contributions and appreciation of their own learning. Children’s voices and contributions to assessment can be captured using strategies such as…’talking and thinking floorbooks’ to involve children in documenting learning’ (AGDE, 2022, p. 25). Join Briony Brooks, Early Years Education Consultant with 25 years of experience in early childhood, in this session about how floorbooks assist children to reflect on their own learning and develop an understanding of themselves as learners, what they like to learn, and how they learn best. Floorbooks also assist educators to develop an understanding about their own practices through critical reflection of the Floorbooks, focusing on improving aspects of their own practice to amplify children’s learning, such as
learning and teaching, assessment strategies, the learning environment, and use of resources or time.
