Playing through Pop culture
Superheroes, Pokémon, Bluey, The Wiggles, Minecraft…educators know that children engage with popular culture, media and digital technologies on a daily basis. This session will unpack how to facilitate the integration of popular culture, media and digital technologies which all add to children’s multimodal play. We will look at links within the EYLF and how educators supporting play through pop culture can provide a context and a process where children can ask questions, solve problems, engage in critical thinking, as well as how providing these opportunities for children will support their learning through discovery, creativity, improvisation and imagination.
